Climbing triangle
What should a safe and proper climbing triangle be like?
• The space between the rungs should be large/small enough to prevent the head or hand from getting stuck, i.e., 10cm;
• The rung diameter should be such that the little hand can grip it;
• Rungs should not rotate.
When is the right time to start using a climbing triangle?
When the little one starts showing the desire to stand up – it will be an excellent aid to learn to get up slowly and sit down gently.
How to use the climbing triangle?
• Initially, it should be offered without a slide to keep it as simple as possible;
• It should be monochromatic to focus on the development of gross motor skills;
• It should have a specific slope so the child can handle the situations they find themselves in – pulling out their legs, avoiding getting stuck, etc;
• It should be at the child's height or slightly higher, as children like to climb on structures taller than themselves.
The climbing triangle aids in the development of motor skills, promotes a sense of balance and spatial awareness, encourages creativity and imagination, provides freedom of movement, and encourages physical activity.
